whitestar of riverclan
whitekit - whitepaw - whitefoot
whitestar is a 73+ moon old clan leader and a white she-cat with long fur, yellow eyes, and a scarred nose. she is called white for her coloring, and foot for her brute strength in battle and fishing skill.
STARTING STAT TOTAL: 00
Tall and large, yet graceful, Whitestar cuts an imposing figure. Honed by years of running, fighting, hunting, and swimming, Whitestar is equipped with long, powerful legs and a solid frame further bolstered by her long, thick coat of smooth white fur. She sports a bit of a mane, lightly tufted ears, and a bushy tail that stands tall like a banner behind her. Her face, centered around a pink nose, is sharp and angular, almost rawboned. Whitestar’s eyes are a flat yellow, and her whiskers and claws as pale as the rest of her. The pads of her paws are a dull pink, calloused by many moons of traversing the various rock formations that dot RiverClan territory. A confrontation during her days as an apprentice left her with a scarred nose, leaving two harsh lines cut across the bridge.
Decisive, loyal, driven, and shrewd, Whitestar is quick to take action in regard to the welfare of her Clan. Drawing from her wealth of experience, Whitestar is often confident in both her decisions and competence as a leader, even as she tends to question herself on a more personal level. Regardless of this, Whitestar is open to the thoughts and opinions of her Clanmates, but will not hesitate to lay down the law should a Clan meeting creep toward disorder. As a result of the tenuous, grueling circumstances under which she became leader, Whitestar takes special care to guide her Clan as seamlessly and proficiently as she is able, leaving no room for disloyalty or traitors or anyone else who might pose a threat to the collective health of the Clan.
However, Whitestar is also sure to temper her iron will with a more compassionate side, often taking the time to visit the nursery with its queens and kits, chat with her warriors about their day and any concerns they may have, and check in on apprentices during their training. She is also known to collect small rocks and shells and other ornaments during her travels, bringing them back to camp to be woven into den walls and the linings of nests, as is RiverClan custom.
Towards her enemies, Whitestar is aggressive in a cold, measured way, rarely falling into fits of rage. Yet she is also quite utilitarian in her views toward conflict, and will strike a deal with an old enemy if it means a fruitful outcome for her Clan, regardless of any bad blood. In battle she is clever and quick, reserving her strength for devastating blows aimed to incapacitate and take a rival out of the fight. She also swore to never allow pride to outweigh lives; Whitestar will surrender and retreat before leading her Clanmates further into a battle they can no longer win, even if the choice burns her. She will often brood over such decisions for days, if not weeks afterward. Whitestar is not above more clandestine and manipulative tactics to get what she wants, though others may consider such behavior dishonorable.
Whitestar enjoys fishing immensely, always appreciative of the patience and poise it requires as opposed to stealth and scent. She will often swim for leisure, not just practicality, and enjoys joining her Clanmates in the river or the minnow pool, especially apprentices still learning how to best move through the water.
mother: Russetheart, brown-red she-cat with green eyes, deceased
father: Snowclaw, long-furred white tom with yellow eyes, deceased
mentor: Larkjaw, dark bengal she-cat with green eyes, deceased
younger half brother: Redwing, red-brown tom with yellow eyes
former apprentice: Wrentail, brown tabby tom with yellow eyes
former mate: Duskfur, dark gray-blue tom with blue eyes, deceased
0 moons: In the dead of leafbare, under the augur of the Hawk, Whitekit is born to Russetheart and Snowclaw. She looks very much like her father, and is the only kit in their little of four to survive past their second week. Overall the litter is rather weak and sickly. Whitekit hardly explores camp, staying close to her mother’s side, her breath little more than a rattle.
7 moons: Whitekit is apprenticed a moon later than her peers due to a bought of whitecough. She doesn’t appreciate the irony and itches to join her friends in training. Her mentor is Larkjaw, a cheeky bengal she-cat and senior warrior. Whitepaw is rather solemn in comparison to her raucous and adventurous mentor, but they quickly fall into their own unique rhythm and are rarely seen apart.
12 moons: A fight with a rogue in the farmlands results in a badly scarred nose for Whitepaw. Furious, Larkjaw kills the rogue soon after despite Whitepaw’s protests. The encounter leaves her a bit more cautious, as well as determined to improve her fighting skills, though also somewhat unsettled, having seen a side of her mentor she did not expect.
14 moons: Whitepaw’s father, Snowclaw, dies unexpectedly in his sleep, despite not being particularly old. Whitepaw is devastated, but hides her grief in favor of immersing herself further into her warrior training.
15 moons: Whitepaw is made a warrior, earning the name Whitefoot in honor of her strength and speed in battle.
17 moons: Whitefoot receives her own apprentice, Wrenpaw. The young tom is almost painfully shy, but his mentor never pushes him in that regard, allowing Wrenpaw to emerge from his shell on his own as he gains confidence through his training.
25 moons: Wrenpaw is made a warrior after he assists Whitefoot in chasing a dog off RiverClan territory, earning the name Wrentail. Even after his ceremony, the tom still enjoys accompanying his former mentor on patrols.
29 moons: Whitefoot becomes a queen. Her mate is Duskfur, a tom very interested in having kits. Whitefoot learns too late that he is obsessed with the idea of legacy, but turns a blind eyes despite her later doubts, determined to be happy.
30 moons: Whitefoot accidentally drinks bad water and loses her kits, spending a fortnight in the medicine cat’s den to recover. Graycloud and her apprentice, Quillfrost, watch over her.
31 moons: Whitefoot returns to her warrior duties a quieter cat than she was. Duskfur no longer speaks to her.
34 moons: Linnetstar, by now gravely ill with greencough, sends out a patrol to refresh the markers along their border with WindClan, near the gorge. They soon encounter a WindClan patrol, the battle quickly turning ugly, resulting in the death of the Clans’ deputies, Reedwhisker and Brightnose, when the two warriors fall into the gorge, their claws deep in each other’s fur. The battle ends almost immediately with the two shocked parties returning to their camps, grieving and furious. Whitefoot had grown up patrolling alongside Reedwhisker, and is deeply saddened by her passing. By moonhigh that night, and from his nest within the roots of the camp’s willow tree, Linnetstar names Whitefoot the new deputy of RiverClan.
35 moons: Whitefoot is assigned her second apprentice, Snowpaw, the daughter of her good friend Larkthistle. The young she-cat is playful and optimistic, yet attentive in her studies, and well-loved by her Clan.
37 moons: Linnetstar’s condition briefly improves before plummeting again. The tom loses the last of his four lives to greencough, leaving Whitefoot to lead RiverClan. She travels to the Moonstone alongside Graycloud, Quillfrost, and Snowpaw and receives eight lives from StarClan, much to her surprise and relief. When she returns to camp, Whitestar names Featherfoot her deputy.
38 moons: At nine moons old, Snowpaw contracts a fatal case of redcough, her death drawn out and agonizing. The entire Clan grieves her passing, and Whitestar misses her apprentice fiercely, unable to help herself from feeling somewhat responsible. How could she hope to protect her Clan if she couldn’t save her own apprentice?
40 moons: Graycloud, RiverClan’s medicine cat and mentor to Quillfrost, dies from greencough. Whitestar does her best to balance her duties while also supporting her grieving friend.
49 moons: Whitestar begins wyrdwalking, slipping into a kind of perpetual daze. She doesn’t talk, and barely eats or drinks. Quillfrost goes alone to ShadowClan camp to speak with Crowstar about gaining access to Brightmire. He returns to RiverClan camp unharmed, gently nosing a weakened Whitestar out of her den. Her deputy argues that Quillfrost should bring some warriors with them, but Quillfrost refuses, ordering the Clan not to follow them under any circumstances, and escorts his sickly leader all the way to ShadowClan territory on his own. They return the next day, again unharmed, and while Whitestar is incredibly thin and weak, her mind is clear. She loses two lives in the ordeal, leaving her with six.
49 moons: Redkit is born to Russetheart in a rather surprising litter, considering her age. His father is unknown. Russetheart dies giving birth. Whitestar goes to see the young kits, her half-siblings, as often as her duties allow, though the visits are edged with fresh grief for her mother’s passing. Unfortunately, much like her own litter, there is only one survivor as days pass.
58 moons: Renewed tensions between Whitestar and her former mate, Duskfur, builds, and he comes close to attacking her while on patrol, only backing down when Whitestar threatens to exile him from RiverClan. Redpaw witnesses this.
58 moons: Featherfoot vanishes, with the Clan suspecting that she was taken by twolegs. Any patrols sent out to the farms and twolegplace come up with nothing. Her fate is unknown. Whitestar appoints Morningstream as the new deputy of RiverClan.
61 moons: Whitestar is attacked by rogues while travelling to the Moonstone to seek counsel from StarClan, a journey that proved fruitless as she received no visions or dreams. Redpaw and his mentor, Willowclaw, fought beside her, barely managing to battle the rogues back into the depths of Highstones and get their wounded leader back to camp, leaving Whitestar with five lives.
63 moons: Redpaw is made a warrior, earning the name Redwing. Whitestar, incredibly proud of her half brother, keeps an eye on his progress as a young RiverClan warrior, seeing nothing amiss.
68 moons: Duskfur follows Whitestar to the gorge while she is out on a solo hunt. He tries to push her into the falls, a bloodless death that will leave little evidence and likely claim all of her lives. But Whitestar holds on, dragging them both in. She uses her former mate like a raft, shoving him under to keep her head above the water. Duskfur dies while she barely survives, almost drowned herself and losing another life, leaving her with four. She would have suffocated on the shore downriver if not for Redwing, who followed Duskfur when he saw him leave camp soon after Whitestar. Redwing gets her help, but not before positioning Duskfur so that his head is in the water, ensuring his death beyond doubt. He saw Whitestar hold Duskfur under, but says nothing. As Whitestar recovers under Quillfrost’s expertise, Redwing tells the Clan of how Duskfur tried to push her in, but leaves out her role in his death.
73 moons: Rainstar of ShadowClan proposes looking for a new Moonstone, or some other equivalent, at the Gathering. Whitestar is the only other leader to agree to the idea. When tensions boil over, Erminestar of ThunderClan attacks Quillfrost, nearly plummeting the Gathering into an all out battle. It takes every ounce of self control Whitestar possesses to not kill Erminestar where he stands. Later that month, Morningstream leaves in search of a new place to convene with StarClan and does not return.
74 moons: The Clans’ medicine cats are attacked, and some killed, at Mothermouth during their half moon meeting. Quillfrost survives, but his apprentice, Graypaw, is killed. Later that month, a WindClan patrol visits RiverClan camp seeking aid in getting a wyrdwalking Mothstar to Brightmire.
76 moons: Whitestar takes on another apprentice, Russetpaw.
