welcome to anathaema, a literate warriors roleplay set on an alternate timeline from the events of into the wild. we are focused on creativity. we offer member-driven plots and lenient application and post requirements. we also feature new concepts, locations, and dynamics that set us apart from other warriors rpgs. feel free to look around and see all that we have to offer.
DECORUM: mind your manners, be respectful, and know that we will not tolerate harassment in any form, for any reason. all colors, genders, and orientations are welcome on AE. if you're having a problem with another member, either settle it through pm or ask a staff member to mediate. if things ever get out of hand and you're feeling attacked, please let us know. if another member ever contacts you in a weird or inappropriate way, take screencaps of the messages and notify staff immediately. if you're having doubts about whether or not it's worth telling us, please do so anyway. we do not take this sort of thing lightly.
ACCOUNTS: please register in all lowercase (i.e. bluefur, not Bluefur or BLUEFUR). each member is required to have one account for each character in addition to an ooc account. from there you can link your character accounts to your ooc account for easy switching between posts. please pm a staff member using your ooc account to let us know you've created one.
IMAGES: due to hotlinking being a breach of their terms of service, we do not permit for you to use images hosted on imgur. we recommend imgbox.com as an excellent alternative image host. avatar images are 250x400 in size, and signatures cannot exceed 500x450 total in size.
ACTIVITY CHECKS: every other month (or so) AE will hold an activity check in the announcements board. these checks will have deadlines a week after the posting of the thread. if you fail to fill out the form and post in these checks, your accounts, while not deleted outright, will be listed as inactive (so if you're having issues that are affecting your activity, please let us know so we can work with you!). if your accounts go inactive, but you wish to return, speak to a staff member. we'd be happy to work with you.
ABSENCES: if you will be haring off into parts unknown for your next vacation, enjoy! but first, please do make use of our absences board. being left hanging by a sudden bout of silence from someone who is merely on holiday is very frustrating. at least if we know you're just on vacation, we know you haven't up and vanished/dumped your threads. if you'll be off the grid for longer than a few days, please let us know. be sure to make a post in our absences board, not the c-box.
NUMBER OF CHARACTERS: you may create three characters at no cost, but after that, characters must be purchased in our shop.
NAMING CHARACTERS: we only allow one prefix per clan, so please check in on the character lists in the camps before naming your character. AE will also only accept characters with more traditional sounding names as opposed to ones like volcanozephyr or oreofur or brokensoul or oceanmoon. no thunders, rivers, shadows, or winds either, for obvious reasons, and no references to the ocean. we also do not accept "daylight warrior"-esque names, so no harveymoons or billystorms. if the "loner/kittypet joins a clan" item is purchased from the shop, a character with a nontraditional sounding name will be expected to change that name upon joining a clan. names should reflect appearance and ability in a realistic way. if a name doesn't quite fit, staff will gently steer you in the right direction. if you're not sure about a name, feel free to pm one of us about it before posting your character's bio. ailuronymy is a great site for name ideas (see the column of links to the left side of their page), not to mention a great resource for other warriors-related work too! we are not quite as strict as ailuronymy, so some of the prefixes and suffixes listed as "nontraditional" on their page would be fine by us! there is also (somehow in existence) this amusingly illustrated wikihow page that is pretty helpful too. just keep in mind that our bios include a section on the reasoning behind your character's warrior name, so be sure to think ahead!
CHARACTER APPEARANCES: we strive for realism on this site when it comes to the appearance of characters, and so designs that would be completely impossible in the wild would not be allowed. for example, you cannot have a cat with purple or red eyes, or with a pelt color that is not natural. we also ask that you consider the realistic implications of picking certain combinations, such as tortoiseshell/calico AMAB toms (rare, infertile, and must be purchased in our shop - if they are trans, this does not apply) and blue-eyed, white-furred cats (often deaf). we are not restrictive about whether an eye color matches a pelt color, however! for example, you can have a dark brown tabby with blue eyes, even though that is not necessarily genetically kosher.
KITS: litters must be purchased in our shop, and any kits created outright on the site must be at least 4 moons of age at the time of creation to minimize the amount of time they are played while confined to camp. for kits that don't have parents that are active characters on the site, it is the choice of the roleplayer whether their parents are adoptable, npc, or dead (another item that must be selected from our shop). if you want to create a kit or a litter of kits, contact staff by pm before doing so! we are not restrictive about kit creation, but we want to insure the clans don't get overrun by younguns.
APPRENTICES: you cannot create an apprentice unless they already have a mentor lined up for them. there are sections of the site as well as a channel on the discord server to help you find a mentor for your apprentice; apprentice bios for characters that don't already have a mentor will be shifted into pending until the player finds a mentor.
NPCs: these are characters that are alive on AE but exist in a limited capacity in actual rp, such as the parents or siblings of a main character you have that you may or may not want to adopt out later. they may appear briefly in a post in camp or some other simple interaction; if you'd like to do anything more extensive, either snag them a writer or create their bio and write for them yourself. if someone takes an NPC a little too far a little too often, staff will contact them privately.
HIGH POSITIONS: we take the activity of AE's high positions very seriously, seeing as they are vital to the flow of the story, not to mention the multiple smaller plotlines they will be a part of. if you are in a high position and are having issues with activity due to real life issues, please reach out to us so we can work something out.
WORDCOUNT: we ask that all in-character posts be at least 150 words in length. we are not a site that requires you to write a novel each time you post, so please don't feel pressured over your word count. we only request that in each post you make, you include enough information that the individual responding to you has something to work from.
ADVERTISING: please keep ads where they belong: in the advertisements board. do not advertise through pm's, the c-box, or any other board.
green buds have begun to line the boughs of the forest, heralding the long-awaited arrival of newleaf. after a particularly vicious leafbare, the clans welcome the lengthening days and turn eagerly to the face of a warmer sun as the forest once again sets itself to grow.
